I wish I could tell you that the rest of the artworks in this post is as awesome as that banoffee pie.
I’m still on a roll of sketching people in coffee shops (and being super sneaky at it). There are so many things I’m desperate to get right: proportion, alignment, perspective, shadow, perfection. But after watching one of my favorite artist and YouTuber Teoh Yi Chie’s process in people sketching, I realize that I’m too hung up on ‘accuracy’ to appreciate my own work. The point of drawing people in urban setting is not to capture their exact likeness, but to tell a story. They are elements that make up for a bigger picture.
Making a pencil draft before inking isn’t my usual process, but maybe this is the year to try something new. I still prefer going straight to Microns, though.
