I can’t quite believe it’s been eight months since I taught at a brush lettering workshop hosted by On the Dot PH. And it was right around my birthday, too.
On the Dot PH is an initiative by a dear friend who originally only wanted to make bullet journal spreads with other BuJo enthusiasts over coffee. But the number of people who expressed interest was unexpectedly huge for a simple Starbucks meetup. Next thing we knew, we had a full event on our hands complete with a series of workshops, seller booths and sponsored giveaways.
It’s been a while since I last held a workshop, thanks to the artist’s block/impostor syndrome combo that’s plaguing me for a couple years now. Still, the event was one of the highlights of my 2019. Being in the same room with passionate people, seeing them create curves and swirls with their pens, and being able to try said pens (I am so getting those Crayola Supertips!) I was reminded of the thrill of creating and why I tried lettering in the first place. And it made me realize that it is not something I can get out of my system — ever.
Hey look, it’s me!
I still feel a thrill whenever folks use my drill sheets *blushes*
